Desert Dune Dragon and Wind Trails coloring page

There is a cordial desert dragon floating on undulating sand dunes amid swirling wind streams-clean lines, large forms and tranquil cues of allowance to be colored by kids.

Desert Dune Dragon and Wind Trails

This sun-bleached coloring page consists of a friendly, long-bodied dragon flying over gentle dunes of the desert. Scalloped back sites, smooth belly plates, and rounded horns make the character cute, and the broad wings (or fin-like sails) make large, easy spaces to fill. Straight lines bend around in simple, swoopy wind trails to give the illusion of movement without being busy. The dunes are sketched as broad hills and shallow stripes of ripple marks in order to be fullfilled in texture; there are some friendly desert plants (cactus pads of rounded shapes, a small flowering succulent plant) and clustering of pebbles in the foreground. Strategically far in the distance, there are a low ridge and a large, simple sun (or crescent moon) which add some depth to the piece. The big areas are balanced with tiny details (scale rows, seed-pod flowers, and a pair of drifting sand sparkles). All the contents can be contained within a slim, neat frame so that the completed page will be sharp once printed or projected on an output medium.

Tools & tips

Sandy white or brown rocks and ripples, softer gradients and shading on plants, markers on darker and dramatic flats to the wings and sky (do sky first so colors can be dry without bleeding into detail).
White gel pen to add sparkle dots, eye highlights and sun/moon glints.
Lie on large surfaces in thin masses of colour; keep the stroke in one direction to get the best blending.
On thin paper, pencils should be used in the background and markers left until smaller areas so that there is no bleed-through.
