Tires work best in warm gray, a cooler gray shadow; darken tread and soft oval shadow under each wheel to ground the car. Asphalt is gritty: mid gray with speckled dots; paint turns curb strips to red-white and blend the background banners a bit to hasten. Allude to carbon fiber with a diagonal cross hatch on the splitters, or on mirrors. Markers do well on bold flats (body, sky, barriers) and colored pencils work well on shading and reflections, as does a white gel pen on pin highlights, rivets and motion streaks.
