Baby Dragons Playing with Bubbles
📇 Print Page

This cute coloring page includes 4 baby dragons in a fun situation as there are floating bubbles. The one dragon is seated with a bubble wand, its cheeks puffing out as it blows a line of small bubbles of varying sizes; the other dragon chases them along, with tiny wings outstretched and its tail turned up to show its excitement by the curvy line that is the tail. Both are rounded horned, soft-bellied, and scalloped back-scaled and drawn with smooth and even line design to allow little hands to color easily. Some of the bubbles incorporate some with basic shiny ovals to others with mild lines of swirls to imply reflections. There is a shallow tub of soapy water nearby into which a bottle of bubble solution, a small towel and a toy rubber duck has been added to provide extra charm. The background is filled out with daisies on an expanse of grass and some soft puffs of cloud to indicate that there is no clutter. There are large portions (bodies, wings, sky) of the composition and there are little pleasing details (rows of scales, bubble accents, center of daisies). It has a narrow, clean frame around the scene to ensure that when the final page is finished it can be put neatly into the binder or fridge.

Step-By-step: How to color

Choose a palette:

Backgrounds and play: mint, peach, lavender, butter yellow and sky blue.

Colourful & clear: emerald, teal, coral, sunny yellow, royal blue.

Base coats first: Put on light, smooth color on both dragons-belly plates and inside wings one or two shades lighter than body itself.

Soft shading: Darken in under chins, down the wing folds, on the juncture of legs to the body and behind the tail curls. Leave little white spots in snouts, horn tips and some edges of the scales.

Bubbles: Bubbles: Begin with paper white. Ring the edges in very light blue, or lilac, and a few pale pink, and mint touches on one side. Leave one or two white spotless shines white.

Bubble glow: Pop in some very slight halo to the largest bubbles with a almost transparent coat of the same pale blue- this gives them a light look.

Soapy Tub & Props: Light gray or light aqua color should be used on tub; small circles should be drawn on to represent foamy water. Stain the duck with a bright yellow with an orange beak to add fun pop.

Grass & daisies: Or two greens--shades of green in the shady parts and on the under of the overlappings, and a lighter one on top. Daisies are to be left predominantly white and have sunny centres.

Sky and clouds: Soften sky pale in foreground to darker in the upper foreground or keep sky white and fade out the top edges of each cloud.

Patterns and accents: Dot/stripe the towel or place a small heart on the bubble bottle or some speckles on the wings.

Finish & frame: Put ground under feet and tub by darkening a fine line. Use the border line again to re-trace it once to give crisply, poster-ready edge.
