Winnie the Pooh Sleeping by Tree

This colour page of Winnie the Pooh features an idyllic peaceful and comfortable picture, in which Pooh sleeps against a robust tree in the Hundred Acre Wood. It is drawn in a bold and easy-following outlines and this made the sketch very attractive to children who are low in the school age, yet providing sufficient appeal and detail to be of interest to older colorists. All these attributes, along with the relaxed poise of Pooh, slightly-shuttered eyes, and vague smile, form a warm centre of focus that depicts rest and calmness. Similarly to this, the tree behind him has the shapes of the bark and leaves that are wider and simple to access without cluttering the page completely. The Hundred Acre Wood surrounding Pooh is implied by open grass fields, bushes in the background and without numerous floating leaves, making the composition light and relaxing. This scene can be used alone or along with other ones in a classroom or during quiet-time and helps to promote mindfulness and story telling and gentle creativity, thus is a wonderful contribution to any collection of coloring.

HOW TO COLOR
Colour Winnie the Pooh started with warm yellows and soft orange in order to highlight his rounded and cosy features. His shirt must be a soft red, but slightly dulled so as not to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the setting. The trunk of the trees can be painted in the medium-browns with the dark lines to create an impression of texture and leaf lines can be painted in a variety of green or even more soft autumn colours, depending on the ambiance you desire. The grass should be done with light greens and the sky done with soft blue or lavender colours as this would make the scene quiet. Add parcels of shadows under Pooh and in the root of the trees. Coloured pencils are fabulously effective in mixing, however, crayons and markers also fit the thick outlines. Pay attention to gentle transitions and low contrasts in order to add to the relaxed atmosphere of a peaceful nap by Pooh.
