The sunflowers in this inspirational coloring sheet are growing in strong stems with large lobed petals that open out at the center of a disk of tightly dotted seeds. The flowers are all leaning one way in unison, as though together, following the path of the sun during the day leaving a repetitive wave of each flower, across the page. The blooms are fringed by spreading broad veined leaves on tilted stems; those edges are serrate, the midribs are prominent and tipped up to invite green tones that deepen or even surprise. Even in the background, connotations of far off hills or cloud formations can be filled in with easy sweats of color or left sparse as an understatement sky. The seed heads with concentric circles drawn out of tiny ovals make you want to play with stippled textures, maybe darker at the center and lighter at the edge to reproduce depth. You can use bright yellows and golds as the petals, the centres can be rusty brown, or you can have a go at sunset-like graduations in coral, peach, or amber, but as a rule this scene invites you to offset strong, saturated blocks of color on the sunflowers with light shading on the leaves and clouds. Each of the sunflowers you bring into existence will build an illuminated picture of panorama that breathes life and hope as you capture the innocent beauty of flowers that always tend to follow the sun.
