The way to do it is color: To begin with, start with the clouds using soft whites, blues and grays blended at the edges lightly to give the fluffy texture. Add layers of rainbow, in that order, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet from the center to the outside. Pencils will look fantastic gentle or colored pencils when blending tones of the sky, and markers or gel pens can be used to make rainbow areas bright and colorful. To go that extra mile you can add glimmering silver or gold touches to stars or outlines. Repeat the rainbow colors symmetrically around the mandala, to emphasize the balance in it. Light and happy should be every stroke, as you paint a welkin in the rain.
