Magical Tree Roots and Fern Garden
📇 Print Page

The scene represents an immortal forest floor, old trees with their roots spreading on the moss and surrounded by layers of tender ferns. Root twisting creates natural arches and hideouts which make people imagine the enigma and symphony of untarnished forest. The lines are bold but finely detailed providing a smooth and fun colouring with space to be creative and add subtle shadows. This is the ideal location to unwind, get well in art therapy or simply any mindful vacation of nature. When you paint, you can dream about the sun rays, which go through the canopy and the cool smell of the soil and plants, and the whispering of the forest. And by each stroke you give birth to the mellow motion of the nature, a soothing melody of magic and growth and calm, that stands beneath the trees.

🎨 How to Color
Begin with the deep earthly browns on the roots of the trees, with deeper ones in the folds to make distinct the winding, antique feel of them. Olive, emerald, and moss green are to be used on the ferns, - mix some light greens at the ends, so as to give a soothing glow. The shaded portion of the forest may be done in dull browns, dull yellows, and faint greens to all indicate leaves and moss. It is best to add some gray or violet touches to the shade places to provide depth and contrast. The background should be cooler green with softer shadows that would give an illusion of a distance under the canopy. Lighten up with some pale yellow or cream pencils in places where the sunlight is being diffused. Finally add little touches of white to get reflections of dew or light and transform your fern garden in to a tranquil and magical aura full of vibrant natural powers and serenity.
