Lost Jungle Shrine Surrounded by Tree Roots coloring page
An obscured jungle shrine encircled by huge tree roots makes a deserted, detailed coloured page of old stone work, vines and tropical vegetation.
This colour illustration is that of an abandoned jungle shrine being gradually re-engulfed by nature, the old stone faces of the structure being covered in huge, strangling tree roots. The sculpted symbols of the shrine, the broken blocks and the dilapidated details give some hints about the old civilization buried in the forest. The thick roots cover doorways and pillars and the structure is covered with hanging vines, fern and wide jungle leaves. The Imposing, ungrossed lines put the architecture of the shrine and the natural follies of the roots readily to be coloured, whilst in the carvings and foliage superimposed one may find a contentment of difficulty in more accomplished individuals. Filtering sunlight through the heavy canopy, there is an implied light and shade of sunlight on the stone. There are open spaces in the way as well as in the sky, which leaves a shading artist or a theatric light effect to colorists to play around with. The scene is such as to suggest mystery and history and the atmosphere of the jungle that doth hang dense, it calls upon hours of relaxations, imaginative, and vivid colouring.
🎨 How to Color
Start with the stones of the shrines in greys and dark browns or in mossy green. Colour casts of cracks, carvings and root-covered edges with darker colours in order to add the aged texture. In the huge roots natural variations should be made by warm browns with spurts of dark red or muted orange, and the round edges emphasised with light colours to indicate their bulk. Olive greens or earthly tawny may be used in the vines, little roots. The vegetation around should have a mixture of green colours deep colours on shady ones and light green on sunlit leaves. Add splashes of yellow or teal so as to make it rich. Should the scene indicate a break of sunshine, mingle lightly warm gold or pale green around the edges of top of shrine, to give mystic look. Darken the ground using earthytlses and paler shades of green and give shadows under the roots and plants to have them feel as rooted. Complete with the slightest touches on rock and bark to make it three-dimensional and realistic.
